Cormo Carded Roving & Combed Top

This Cormo roving is soft, bouncy and full of life unlike some of the fine wool roving that is commercially processed. Each fleece is checked for soundness or strength.  No harsh chemicals are used in processing.  Special care must be taken with fine wools so the fibers are not broken or damaged during processing. All of these rovings are easy to draft and spin like a dream.

White Cormo Pin-drafted Roving

This is the prettiest Cormo roving I've ever seen. It has been processed by Morro Fleece Works. It is even smoother than the French combed top that I had made a few years ago.

Pin-drafting is an additional step after carding to align the fibers more.

New -  100% Cormo and  Colored Cormo Crossbred Combed Top

The local spinners who tested this top raved about it. The fleeces were provided by our ACSA registered Cormo sheep and they were processed by Zeilinger Wool Co.

These pieces were scanned and the larger pictures are photographs. It's not easy to show the color on the internet. It's very rare that we have processed natural colored wool available.

     $4 / oz.,  $64 / lb.

Cormo Roving from Different Processors

Walter - I'm selling this roving that was processed by Stonehenge for my friend Nancy. She bought Walter from me as a lamb many years ago. He was only half Cormo so this wool is not nearly as soft and fine as what we have today but it is a beautiful dark color and is very easy to spin. Quantity is limited.  $4 / oz.   This is almost gone!

I don't have any pics of Walter...I lost all of my photos when my
computer crashed 5 yrs. ago.

I can say, however, that Walter was the smartest sheep on the planet. He
just worked on challenges until he conquered them. I came home from town
one day and noticed that Walter was stepping on and off of the field
fencing around his pen. When I went out to see what he was up to, I
immediately noticed that he had been lowering that section of the fence
so he could jump over it and get into the pasture. He always checked
gates for the occasional time I would forget to latch them. When I
started a training session with my Border Collie years ago, I put her
into the pen with 6 month old Walter, thinking that he wouldn't
intimidate her like my ewes might. The minute the dog entered his pen,
he jumped up in the air and ran to greet her as a new playmate!

Bleached Soy Protein Fiber Top

Made from the by-products from processed soy beans. It is very soft and though this photo doesn't show it well it has a nice sheen. Since both wool and soy are protein fibers they both tolerate a similar temperature range and take acid dyes beautifully. Personally, I don't like to spin pure soy but I just love it blended with Cormo.

$24 / lb.
